Life and missed flights

Posted: October 30, 2007 in Uncategorized

Yep, it’s true.  I just missed another flight.    My office travel buddy and good friend Christa and I did all we could to maneuver Dallas mid-day traffic to hit a 2pm flight.

Not.

Oh well …

Steve & Denise are headed home

Posted: October 24, 2007 in Uncategorized

Praise God, Steve will get a little “home time” before heading to Denver as mentioned in the last blog.  Just got a text from Denise – they are going home today!

Dear brothers and sisters – please continue to pray for Steve Thomas as he takes these next steps.   I have attached a message from the Thomas family, shared with us today.

Take note of a special benefit concert with some GREAT area musicians, performing on Oct. 30 at 12th and Porter.  I know I’ll be there – please join me – more information is below from the Thomas family.

“I lift up my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip – He who watches over you will not slumber.” Psalm 121:1-3

These verses have taken on a completely new meaning for us these past few days. We have decided to go to Presbyterian/ St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver for Steve to have his Bone Marrow Transplant. It is one of the finest HCA facilities for this type of procedure and we feel very confident that Steve will receive excellent care as well as the best treatment available. Once Steve is released from the hospital (hopefully tomorrow or Thursday) we will be making a trip for a consult with the team in Denver. They will get the ball rolling to prepare for the transplant to take place as soon as a donor match can be found.

The down side is that we will be in Denver several months, and Steve won’t be able to ski! At least we’ll get to see the Rockies and snow!

Please be praying for the donor. That God would even now be preparing them. For them to be strong and in great health and that we would find as close a match as possible. (Steve’s sister, Julie, is also a candidate. The facility in Denver will have to do the workup to determine whether she is a match.)

Another exciting event coming up is on Tuesday, October 30th. Our friends, Matt and Ryan Fleener, along with a whole lot of other talented musicians and songwriters, are planning a benefit for Steve. It will be at 12th & Porter, here in Nashville, from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. There will be a two hour acoustic set and then a two hour band set. The talent that will be in that room that night will be unsurpassed. The Opry has donated some really cool stuff to be auctioned off – autographed guitars, etc. Come out if you can. It will certainly be a good show and a great time!

Thank you for all the prayers, cards, messages, emails, etc. We so appreciate your love and support.

Easing back to blogging

It is Sunday night. House is quiet except for Chelsea and a friend watching a movie in the family room … Joe is at a Leadership Conference and I’m just chillin’ with loads on my mind …

Check back in Sunday.  I should be out from underneath the rubble left from a week of “mom activities” including homecoming and a band contest, plus a flu shot and other riveting, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat real-life drama.
