Music & A Latte

Posted: May 31, 2008 in Uncategorized

Nothing beats going to pick up a quick latte and finding that some of my favorite west Nashville musicians are teamed up and playing at Starbucks!Latte & Music

It was GREAT! Meet Robert (a former Starbucks barista), Calen, Rocky & Ian. That’s Alan back there on the stand-up bass. Rocky (on acoustic) was our daughter’s Field Commander Coach this past fall.

We love these guys. Alan (Calen and Ian’s daddy) is a picker and a grinner with the grammy award-winning Nashville Bluegrass Band! (He’s a little crazy but that’s why I love him, too!)

These guys are multi-talented. There’s not an instrument they can’t play between them. I was in Starbucks the day Robert came in to show off his new mandolin, sometime back in March I think. Wow – he’s good!

It was fun running into some other friends of ours while we were there. So we sat down and cheered these guys on to their very last song! Hope to see them around again soon! Ahhhh, one of the many reasons I love living here!

Keep up the great work guys.

Where do you go to hear some of your favorite musicians?  And who are they?

Just a quick post.  I am back.  And WOW.   What another great time at Deer Run Retreat.  If you haven’t been, but looking for a place to take a work team as a “getaway” or place to brainstorm and plan, THIS is where you need to go,  We stayed in the lodge and it was nothing short of perfect.

I’ve been there a couple of times.  It is Christian-owned and probably one of the best run retreat centers I know.

By the time we left today, the team I lead was well on its way to making plans for as far out as 2015!   I just love them all so much.   As I always say to them, “I am only as good as those who surround me around the business and ministry table”.  They are all so innovative – and FUN as much as anything!

I am emotionally, mentally and physically pooped – mostly because we shared so much of our intimate selves through the time together.   Great unity was built.  And that unity took us to some great places this morning in looking ahead to future plans.

I praise God for this time.  May He now direct and guide every move as we seek to do His will through the coming months and years!

Now, let’s have a great weekend – and may God come pouring into the work of the UC Saturday and Sunday!

Pam & SmootsI just had to snatch this wonderful photo of Smootie and me from Beef’s blog.

I grabbed this cutie-pie pic from her while she was sleeping this evening!! Beef has to have her 8 hours sleep, so I know she is down for the count right now.

We wrapped up our girls night last evening at Fido.We really had a blast, laughing over lattes and double espressos. Good times!

I love Bill Mitchell. He leads our Connect Group. His wife Karen is a grand hostess each Wednesday we gather together. Bill has quite the way of communicating to us group members. He is funny in person. Then he always follows up our gatherings with an immediate email encouragement …

After cleaning house, planting flowers and entertaining before and after my daughter’s graduation – I was ready for some rest.

Tonight, rest came in the form of girls night out …

Memorial Day wrap up

I have just eased through this day.   I’ve reflected on why we celebrate Memorial Day…

A dog’s life

Posted: May 26, 2008 in Uncategorized

I love dogs.  Always have.  Here are my three faves these days.

The Yorkie on the upper left is Jackson.   He belongs to my daughter Stephanie.    He has a ball playing with my two chihuahuas, Peanut (brown) and Gizzie (black).

My dogs have a “thing” for warm clothing, fresh out of the dryer.   So this pile of clean laundry was too inviting to pass up.

So I snapped a quick shot with my phone to remember the moment.

Aren’t they just the cutest??!!!!!
