Deeper Still Tuesday

•June 23, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Around my work, we call today “Deeper Still Tuesday”.  We focus like crazy people on a LifeWay Women event featuring none other than Kay Arthur, Beth Moore and Priscilla Shirer.

Seriously, it is one BIG TIME, GOOD TIME weekend.  And Travis Cottrell with the praise team rock the house.

Well, here it is.  Our next Deeper Still is set for July 31-Aug 1 in Greensboro, NC.  You simply cannot miss it.  It is one deep bible-teachin’ weekend.  And as I often say, it SHOULD be illegal to bring that much teaching powerhouse to one stage.  But we do it.

And gracious, IT IS FUN!  Don’t believe me, see this from our Vegas Deeper Still.

Now, don’t you want to be there with us?  AND we are planning a little informal TWEETUP with any tweeps who follow LifeWay Women on Twitter.  So come on, join us. Don’t wait another second. Register here.

So my closest blogging/twittering pals are encouraging me to write more.

I think what they mean is “your blog is boring” and “if you’re not going to post anymore, cancel it” …

A Great Reason For Loving Mother’s Day

•May 10, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I have two great reasons for loving Mother’s Day.

Sis, Mom & Me

Sis, Mom and Me

1st of all, my own mom, who is still moving and shaking better than most 40 year olds I know.

Secondly, I have the two most terrific girls in all the world.  It is amazing how much fun we have when we are togehter.

Like all moms, we deal with how fast time has flown with disbelief that our families grow older and move along with their own lives.  At the same time, I’ve seen ours grow closer and closer.

I know that we have many more times like these ahead.  But for now, I find joy in the precious time we spent together this weekend.

Happy Mother’s Day ya’ll, as we all say down south!

Here it is, a little musical recap to this past weekend.  Have I mentioned lately how much I love the work called LifeWay Women?

ENJOY!  And thanks Rich for the beautiful pictures, as always!

Join us this weekend for Going Beyond with Priscilla Shirer!  Anthony Evans (Priscilla’s brother) will lead the dynamic praise team. Gracious, I’m getting excited.  If you’re from the Nashville area and attended Kairos on Tuesday nights at Brentwood Baptist, then you know exactly who Anthony is!

See you Friday and Saturday in Troy (Detroit) for a life-changing event.  And it’s not too late to register!

Easter Hat. Not.

No, I didn't really wear it.

No, I really didn't wear it to church.

Just for fun, I tried on an Easter hat or two during a shopping trip with my youngest daughter.

I didn’t make a purchase, but this was GREAT fun in the store.  Pretty sure I was close to being asked to leave.

What do you think?

But for real, here’s a new favorite photo of Joe and me.   Chelsea took this after Easter morning services.

It had been a long week.  I watched as my man poured his heart out preparing for the two Sunday services – and right in the middle of it all, he was called to the Fox 17 anchor desk to do both the Thursday and Friday night weathercasts.   That’s 1-10:30pm on both those days – when I knew he probably needed to be working on church things.  Truthfully, it was really cool to see him back on the tube, but I missed him at home at the same time.

Many people have crossed our paths in the two decades (plus) that Joe and I have been together.  When all is said and done, I’ve learned that no one really knows and understands the heart and passions of this man quite like I do.

As we celebrated Easter together, and as I thanked God for the reason for our celebration, I also took time out to thank God for this man I love so much.

Happy Easter, sweetheart.  This year was one of my favorites so far!
